Steel Arrives on Site as Construction of New Global HQ at HIE Inverness Campus Progresses

Sitting within the boundary of the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, we’ve reached a major milestone in the delivery of our new headquarters at HIE Inverness Campus! The steel has begun to arrive on site and erection work is now underway, marking a key step in the construction of the 2,000 square metre office, which will bring the operational offices of companies within the group together under one roof for the first time.

The project, which began mid-September, has already gone through a period of extensive enabling works, which has included site preparation, earthworks, removal of surplus materials, structural infill to the car park and building footprint, and then the completion of foundations, drainage and substructure blockwork. With these essential stages finished, the steel structure will now form the backbone of the new headquarters, with full completion of the frame expected in early 2026, ahead of the upper floor decks and the ground floor slab.

Within the Global portfolio, Capstone Construction is the principal contractor on the project, and the building’s design has been created by award-winning lead architect David Lawrie of Bracewell. Arthian (formerly Mabbett & IKM Consulting) is advising on acoustics, noise and vibration for the new HQ, while Global Port Services is providing lifting support through its extensive and modern crane and transport fleet.

Chairman Roy MacGregor said, “Located at the heart of the Highland capital’s innovation hub, I am delighted to see the steel structure of Global’s new HQ taking shape on site, which, once fully constructed, will support the group’s ambitious growth strategy, allowing us to continue to unlock opportunities within the green energy and utilities sectors while exploring new markets.

“Our Corporate Services Team, Global Infrastructure, Global Power Services, Arthian, Bracewell, Global Highland, Chance Recruitment and Be Personnel will all have a presence at the new HQ, with the new headquarters providing the space we need to grow organically and through future acquisitions. Our new HQ marks a defining moment for Global, and we’re all excited for the scheduled completion in autumn 2026.”
